The difference between concrete and clay bricks in the building of a house
Jan Oberholzer, CEO of Baxolog Builders, answer this question from one of their clients.
Answer:
Clay Bricks: Made from natural clay, fired in a kiln at high temperatures, resulting in a durable, reddish-brown brick. They offer good thermal insulation, are eco-friendly, and have a traditional aesthetic but can be more expensive and less uniform.
Concrete Bricks: Made from a mixture of cement, sand, and aggregates, cured through a chemical process. They are typically cheaper, more uniform, and available in various colors but may have lower thermal insulation and be less visually appealing.
Key Differences:
Material: Clay (natural) vs. cement-based (man-made).
Process: Kiln-fired vs. cured.
Cost: Clay is pricier; concrete is more affordable.
Insulation: Clay retains heat better; concrete is less insulating.
At Baxolog Builders we only use durable and isolation clay bricks to build with the best results.
